Faculty may work with their Library Liaison to create an Online Library Resource & Information Guide to support the needs of their current or future classes.
LibGuides are online research guides created by JU librarians for students and faculty. Librarians compile subject-specific scholarly resources, database tutorials, search strategies, and citation help all in one location. LibGuides make it simple to embed content into your guide in most any format, from web links and documents to podcasts and RSS feeds.
LibGuides can be course or assignment-specific. Faculty are encouraged to request a course-specific or assignment guide which can be directly embedded in the Blackboard course menu for easy access from on or off-campus Faculty are also invited to participate in the creation and editing process of their LibGuide.
The JU Library offers course-related instruction sessions that introduce students to academic resources available from the Library. Our goal is to make sessions as assignment- and course-specific as possible.
Please schedule your orientation at least one week in advance. The library will attempt to accommodate requests for orientation as scheduling allows. Orientation is available in two formats- a 15 minute basic introduction to the library's services or a 30-40 minute demonstration of databases. Please provide the library with a class assignment example, as well as examples of relevant search terms to your course. Please use a separate form for each request (multiple class sections, follow-up sessions, etc.). To schedule an orientation, please complete this form.
Looking for a way to spread the news about an event, organization, class, or service on campus? Look no farther than the electronic information board at the entrance to the library! Requests for display on the information board can be submitted online using a simple form found here. This form can also be used to request permission to have flyers or handouts put out in Swisher Library. We suggest 12 to 16 flyers/handouts, which will be placed by Swisher Library staff.
Requests should be made in accordance to Swisher Library’s Standards for Advertising, and give a week’s notice prior to the advertising start date. All files for display and questions should be directed to Cassandra Konz.
