The faculty and staff of the Swisher Library are thrilled to safely welcome you back into the Library this spring. We continue to have many modifications to the physical space and some library services in place in an effort to maintain safety. 

Library operating plans are fluid and ongoing. Check back frequently for updates.

• Face coverings are required at all times within the Library.
• Maintain social distancing at all times.
• Seating capacity throughout the Library is reduced and furniture is spaced out to encourage social distancing. Please refrain from moving furniture.
• Follow directional signage.
• No food is allowed in the library; only drinks in covered containers are allowed until further notice. This helps ensure that visitors adhere to wearing a face covering or mask.
• Hand sanitizer and surface wipes are available throughout the building.

• Most library materials are available for borrowing. All due dates are extended through May 7, 2021. 
• Circulating technology is available for the spring semester. This includes graphing calculators, laptop chargers, adapters, external CD/DVD drives, and personal fans.
• Materials should be returned to the outside book drop or the designated book drop inside the Library.
• When materials are returned, they will be held for 72 hours before processing.

• Individual study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No key is required to use these spaces. Users are expected to clean each room after use. Wipes are provided throughout the Library.
• Group study rooms are closed until further notice.

• Physical course reserves are unavailable this academic year. Search our collection of electronic course reserves. 

• All library instruction will be held virtually. The Library offers synchronous and asynchronous online library instruction. Visit our Library Instruction Menu to view workshops and schedule your class.

• Online Reference Room: Chat with a librarian by visiting the online reference room. Online chat is available at following times: Monday - Thursday: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
• Book-a-Librarian: Schedule an appointment to meet with a librarian virtually.
• E-mail: Send an e-mail to library@ju.edu and get a response from a librarian.

• All interlibrary loan operations are active. Users can request electronic and physical materials. Physical interlibrary loans will be received and held for 72 hours. Once processed the ILL requestor will be notified and pick up will be coordinated through the Circulation Desk. ILL due dates are determined by the lending library. Learn more about interlibrary loan.
