The founding of what would become Jacksonville University started in 1934 by William J. Porter. Started as Porter University, a couple years later the name was changed to Jacksonville Junior College and eventually becoming Jacksonville University.

The items in University Archives consist of the majority of the items in Special Collections. This collection preserves the history of Jacksonville University and contains many faculty published books, yearbooks, and student newspapers.

The Riparian - The yearbook of Jacksonville University published until 2010.

The Navigator - The student newspaper and still in publication.
