The largest digital collection from the Treasure Collection is called the Corse Collection. Carita Doggett Corse was the State Supervisor for the Works Projects Administration (WPA) for the state of Florida. The program was later named the Federal Writers' Project (FWP). Corse was the supervisor for the Florida division from the inception of the program in 1935 until 1942. The 15 linear feet of files consist mainly of typescripts for the WPA Writers' Project for the state of Florida.
The information in the files represents writers' efforts during the 1930's and the early 1940's. Corse maintained personal typescript copies of the writers' stories, interviews and research, as well as other handwritten notes that are not part of the WPA files found in several other Florida libraries. The files also contain various photographs and original correspondence to and from Corse. Bibliographic records for these items are available through the library catalog.
These items have been stored on over 100 CDs and recently the digital items have been transferred to a more stable storage device. For a listing of items available, please search the library catalog using the keyword "Corse". When contacting Special Collections please have the Accession number available which can be found on the catalog page in the "title notes" tab. Please have that number and the full title of the item when requesting an item. There is also a working Corse Collection Finding Aid which can be downloaded below. Since many of these items are already digitized, items can usually be delivered electronically.
