Welcome to the Digital Media Lab

The Digital Media Lab in the Swisher Library is a collaborative project between the Swisher Library and Academic Technology. The Lab - located on the main floor of the Swisher Library - is available to current students, faculty, and staff of Jacksonville University. 

The Lab is home to a One Button Studio and a podcasting space.

The One Button Studio equipment allows users to create video recordings of presentations with just the touch of one button. The space includes an optional green screen background, camera equipment, and lighting.

Before Using the Digital Media Lab

Before reserving the Digital Media Lab, you must complete a training. Once you’ve attending the training session, you can book the lab for up to two hours. New and returning users must attend a training at least once every academic year.

Training session will be available in Fall 2020.

Reserving the Digital Media Lab

Once you’ve attending the training session, you can book the lab for up to two hours. Reserve the Lab for a two-hour block here: https://ju.libcal.com/reserve/digitalmedialab

Visit the library’s circulation desk and show the library employee your reservation. Present your JU ID to check out the key to the lab.

When done with the room, make sure the door is locked and return the key to the circulation desk.

 

Policies

  • Up to four individuals are allowed in the Lab at one time. Requests for more than four individuals must be made to library professional staff in advance of reserving the space.
  • When finished with the Lab, please remove all personal belongings.
  • When returning the key, the key must be handed to an available employee at the Circulation Desk. A $50 replacement fee will be charged for lost keys.
  • No covering is to be placed over the room windows.
  • Furniture is not to be moved in or out of a study room except by authorized staff.
  • The user who reserves the Lab assumes full responsibility for loss or damage to any equipment, furniture, and other items in the Lab.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in the Digital Media Lab.
  • The use of the Digital Media Lab is for educational purposes only.
