According to the United States Library of Congress, "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan." The American Library Association also designates June as Rainbow Book Month, a nationwide celebration of the authors and books that reflect the lives and experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our virtual display highlights some of the many items available in the Library's collection that highlight LGBTQIA+ stories, voices, and issues. Search the Library's catalog for more titles. If there's a title you think the Library should have in its collection, let us know. Learn more about Rainbow Book Month and its history from the American Library Association.
