The purpose of the Course Reserves collection is to ensure students access to materials selected by their instructors that support their classwork and assignments. Course Reserves can also provide access to materials for which individual copies are neither available nor practical.
Items on Course Reserve may include Swisher Library-owned materials, personal copies owned by instructors, or department-owned materials and may be in any usable, physical format. We also accept instructor or department-owned learning tools, models, kits, or devices for Course Reserves. Materials in this collection may be utilized by any currently enrolled student.
Due to an agreement between the Barnes & Noble bookstore on campus and Jacksonville University, the Swisher Library is not able to purchase textbooks assigned to currently offered courses to add to the Library’s collection(s) at this time.
If a currently assigned textbook is donated to the Library by any patron, we are able to add that donated item to our collection(s). These donations are subject to our gift policy.
If a currently assigned textbook owned by an instructor or a department is lent to the Library for temporary placement on Course Reserves, we are happy to accommodate that arrangement.
Please complete an Instructor Course Reserves Request Form before the start of each semester to place items on Course Reserve. Please be sure to review our Course Reserve policies before submitting.
Course Reserve materials can be checked out by any currently enrolled student at the Swisher Library’s Circulation Desk and must be returned to the Circulation Desk during our operating hours. At this time, the Swisher Library does not offer mail delivery or courier delivery of Course Reserve materials to patrons outside of the Swisher Library building.
Course Reserve lists are available through the Swisher Library’s website. Lists are accessible by the name of the instructor and are updated each semester.
