Citing AI (ChatGPT)

According to APA style, when citing large language models such as ChatGPT, always include citation information in the text of your paper as well as in your references list.  In-text citations and references can be adapted using the software section 10.10 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.  In the text, be sure to include the prompt you used and any relevant information generated by the AI tool.  Also, be sure to explain how you used AI tools by including an AI usage statement in your paper.  The AI usage statement can be located in the introduction of your paper or in another section.  For advanced research papers, place the AI usage statement in the methods section.  Consider including the entire full text ChatGPT response in an appendix of your paper.  The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is available at Swisher Library, call number: REF BF 76.7 .P83 2020
