The purpose of the Course Reserves collection is to ensure the availability of materials for use by students for which individual copies are neither available nor practical. Reserves may include library or personal materials and may be in any usable format. Materials in this collection may be used by all students.
Course Reserve lists are available through the Swisher Library’s website (library.ju.edu – there is a “Course Reserves” link in the right-hand column). Lists are accessible by the name of a professor or the course number.
The service is provided upon professor initiation, within the bounds of the Fair Use guidelines of the Copyright Act as described in Title 17, United States Code. This service is for the use of all faculty, students, and staff of JU.
Course Reserves may be loaned out for 2-hour or 1-day periods (determined by professor). Reserves may be renewed one time. A reserve item that is returned late will incur a $1.00/hour fine. Reserve items that are lost or damaged are subject to replacement fees (determined by the library).
Removing Materials from Course Reserves
Faculty may request removal of reserve materials at any time. At the end of each semester, items that are expired will be removed from the reserves shelf. If they belong to the professor they will be returned to him/her via interoffice mail, or the professor can pick them up at the Circulation Desk. All library materials will be re-shelved to the appropriate locations.
