Library Policies

Standards for Advertising in the Library

Request Guidelines

  1. All requests, print or digital, must go through the online request form found on the library website.
  2. The library requires a minimum one week notice to post materials.
  3. Once requested, digital files can be emailed to Olivia Hattan-Edwards, and print advertisements can be dropped off at the Circulation Desk.
  4. Approval for advertising in the library is separate from approval for advertising around campus.  Approval for advertising in other parts of campus should be directed to the Office of Student Involvement, and adhere to the policies found in the Green Pages.

Digital Signage Guidelines

  1. All signage must advertise a JU affiliated event, organization, or service.
  2. All digital signage must be received as a landscape PowerPoint slide with a 16:9 widescreen ratio. Slides should contain minimal wording due to the nature of the digital display and be tastefully formatted. All images must comply with copyright restrictions.
  3. Submissions must be received from staff, faculty, student organization or groups sponsored by one of the above. All other external organizations are prohibited from posting.
  4. The library reserves the right to determine the suitability of items for posting and may modify materials as needed.

Print Advertisement Guidelines

  1. The library does not display print posters on the walls, doors or glass.
  2. The library is not able to print out advertisements that are submitted for approval.  We recommend print advertisements be printed in half page, quarter page, or postcard sizes due to the limited advertising space available.
  3. The library staff handles posting and removing print advertisements.  All materials must have prior approval of library staff.
  4. Any unauthorized signage in the library will be discarded.
  5. Materials should be tastefully formatted and in compliance with university standards. Any materials deemed unsuitable may be rejected or require modification prior to display.
  6. Submissions must be received from staff, faculty, student organization or groups sponsored by one of the above. All other external organizations are prohibited from posting.
  7. The library reserves the right to determine the suitability of items for posting and may modify materials as needed.

Advertising in the Library

Looking for a way to spread the news about an event, organization, class, or service on campus? Look no farther than the electronic information board at the entrance to the Library. You can request electronic advertising or distribution of flyers (we suggest 12 to 16 flyers/handouts, which will be placed by Swisher Library staff).
