This program provides students with a laptop computer for short periods of time if their own equipment is unavailable. The Jacksonville University technology requirement is applicable to laptop borrowers.
Jacksonville University students, faculty and faculty emeritus, administrators, and staff (JU employees) may check out laptop computers from the Swisher Library.
Laptop borrowers must sign a Borrower Agreement Form before checking out a laptop. Laptop loan is a privilege that will be revoked if the service is abused or if borrower has an unresolved library hold for a lost laptop on their JU account.
Fall, Spring, and Summer Term dates are posted on JU's academic calendar. Laptops are not loaned during Winter Term.
Due to high demand, laptops are not eligible for renewal or due date extensions.
Laptops are checked out at the Library's circulation desk. The 3-step process takes about 10 minutes.
Laptop Technical Assistance
The Digital Literacy Lab can assist with technology questions during its regular hours of operation.
Software
Borrowers should consult with the Digital Literacy Lab or the I.T. department about software required for courses, software issues, or software questions of any kind. Downloading, installing, or updating programs on laptops requires administrative permissions of the I.T. Department.
Due to high demand, laptops are available on a first come, first served basis.
All saved work should be saved to user’s external or cloud drive.
