The University Archives is a distinct collecting unit within the Special Collections Department; however, the term "Special Collections" is used synonymously with "University Archives." University Archives collects manuscript, artifactual, audiovisual, and digital records from Jacksonville University departments and affiliated student organizations. University Archives seeks to collect and share materials that represent the history, associations, operations, functions, legacy, and impact of Jacksonville University and its predecessing administrations (Porter University and Jacksonville Junior College) on the local community. Other materials collected retain administrative relevance and are retained according to federal record management recommendations--such materials are restricted from general access.
